##### Do I own my own crypto or am I just getting price exposure to coins?
When you purchase cryptocurrency through the tastytrade platform, you own the actual digital assets, not merely price exposure. tastytrade has partnered with Zero Hash LLC, which acts as the custodian for these assets. This means that while Zero Hash securely holds and manages your cryptocurrencies, you retain full ownership and can transfer your holdings to external wallets if desired.
##### Is crypto at tastytrade secure?
tastytrade's partnership with Zero Hash ensures that your cryptocurrency assets are held in a secure environment. Zero Hash employs the highest control standards to secure these assets. However, it's important to note that cryptocurrency holdings are not insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) or the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC), which means they lack the insurance protections associated with traditional bank deposits or brokerage accounts.
##### Is crypto at tastytrade regulated in the U.S.?
tastytrade operates as a regulated brokerage firm in the United States. Through its partnership with Zero Hash, a registered Money Service Business and licensed virtual currency provider, tastytrade offers cryptocurrency services that comply with applicable U.S. regulations. Zero Hash holds licenses to engage in virtual currency business activity, including authorization from the New York State Department of Financial Services, ensuring that the custody and transaction services provided meet regulatory standards. However, cryptocurrency generally lacks regulatory oversight.
##### Who can sign up for a crypto account?
To engage in cryptocurrency trading at tastytrade, you must have an approved individual tastytrade trading account. This involves completing the necessary account opening procedures and agreeing to the terms set forth by both tastytrade and Zero Hash. Once your account is approved, you can access cryptocurrency trading services, with Zero Hash facilitating the custody and transaction aspects of your crypto holdings.
Please note that while tastytrade and Zero Hash provide a platform for cryptocurrency trading, protections available for traditional assets does not apply to crypto holdings.
##### Can I fund my account with stablecoin?
Yes, new users can fund their tastytrade account by depositing $1 or more of select stablecoin tokens.

Stablecoin withdrawals will be available soon, but are not currently supported. If you need to withdraw funds, please use one of our supported methods. The blockchain wallet address must be compatible with the cryptocurrency asset being transferred. Cryptocurrency asset transfers to an incorrect wallet address are irreversible due to the nature of the blockchain network. You are solely responsible for ensuring your wallet address is correct before submitting your cryptocurrency transfer request. Cryptocurrency trading and custody are provided by Zero Hash Liquidity Services LLC and Zero Hash LLC respectively, and not tastytrade. Neither FDIC insured nor protected by SIPC. Cryptocurrency trading is not suitable for all investors and the value may go to zero. ##### Do pattern day trading (PDT) rules apply to crypto trading?
PDT rules do not apply to crypto trading.
##### Can I trade crypto on margin?
Crypto has to be fully paid for and cannot be traded on margin.
##### How does crypto settle?
Since cryptocurrencies trade 24/7/365 and do not take a break like stock, options, and futures, settlement times will vary depending on the day that a position is closed. Trades closed before anytime on Sunday and those closed before 12am CT Monday thru Wednesday will settle T+2. Trades placed before 12am CT Thursday and Friday will settle T+4. Trades closed on Saturday (at any time) will settle T+3.
For example, if a closing crypto trade was placed on Wednesday before midnight then funds would be settled Friday morning (two days from the trade date). After the position is liquidated on Wednesday, funds are then wired between Zero Hash and Apex on Thursday. Come Friday morning you will see that cash amount available in your crypto buying power as well as your cash available to withdraw.
\\* For cryptocurrency trading, Zero Hash receives a 50-75bp markup/markdown of the executed order price of which tastytrade receives 65%.
